Outfit Dump!

I did dress up a few days already now that I'm on winter break, but I'm much more inclined to just hang out in sweats and cozy hoodies. Terrible, I know.

Before Christmas:

Hat- The Enchanted Hat
Scarf - Walmart
Vest - thrifted
Blouse - Walmart
Bloomers - Bodyline
Tights - unknown
Flats - Walmart

Christmas Eve:

Skirt - DEB
Fishnets - Target
Flats - Walmart
Necklaces - Target/Gift

Christmas Day:

Dress - Handmade
Blouse - thrifted
Fishnets - Target
Flats - Walmart
Necklace - Target
Belt - Wet Seal

I hope you all had a good holiday season. Mine was....decent, actually.

I have taken the liberty of deleting all the truly personal and disturbing blog posts I submitted recently. I figure there's no point in complaining about the same problems over and over again and I'm afraid such thing might actually deter future blog followers. Not that I don't appreciate all the wonderful and helpful comments you all left for me, but I can't leave those posts up there for others to find one day or as possible negative triggers for myself. From now on, all such darkly personal thoughts will be posted somewhere private.

In more (somewhat) cheerful news: I now have two new cats staying at my mom's place. Shadow AND Wolf. Shadow is back permanently but Wolf is only sticking around for the winter holidays and then going back to his rightful home. He's a very friendly and aggressive cat, likes to get into everything, and has even broken some things. Naughty, naughty.

Anyways, this was their hangout spot on Saturday night. Shadow thought it would be hilarious hang out in the bathroom with Wolf and since they were being suspiciously quiet - I went to check on them. My first thought was "Don't move, now where's my camera?"

Wolf seems to be really fond of chilling out the bathroom and if you try to chase him off the towel shelf, he gets rather grumpy. Shadow is fine pretty much anywhere in the house and is especially happy if she can hang out on my shoulders when I'm in the kitchen or sit in my lap when I'm busy with the computer or a book. At least some things don't change.

Today I am giving a presentation with a classmate on Lolita fashion for our Japanese class finals. It was really difficult trying to figure out what to wear - since she's representing Sweet Lolita so I'm tackling Gothic. In the end I chose a simple black Bodyline dress that's sort of old-school in nature. I'm pairing it up with some over-the-knee lacy socks, a pair of black heels, and a cute hat. Oh yeah, and my rosary necklace from Target. Simple, but adequate....this IS campus after all.

I'll take some photos once I'm all dressed up. I have yet to decide on hair or makeup.

I'll be completely finished with finals after tomorrow, if I plan things right and do all the stuff I'm supposed to do. Then I get to go home for the duration of winter break. Spring semester starts up sometime in January so it's a fairly long break.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all that time. >_<

Inspiring People: Youtube Edition!

I'm not an incredibly unique person, I'll admit that. I'm inspired by a lot of different things and a lot of different people. Over the years and more so recently I've come across some really fantastic bloggers and Youtubers that have inspired me to become more myself or to push my limits and here are some of them:

1. KazlovesBats

Allison is a wonderful Goth blogger from Germany who just so happens to have a very interesting and Gothy-infused Youtube channel. She covers such things as dealing with people who don't like you dressing Goth to how to tease your hair just right. She's friendly, ramble-y, and very intelligent!

2. TheAlternativeDrug

A v-logger from the UK, she is a fabulous example of alternative culture and cute as a button. She doesn't have many uploads yet, but I'm looking forward to more from her. My favorite video thus far is the one where she talks about misconceptions surrounding alternative cultures.

3. Kill Natalie

This girl is so cute and so smart, and she's also a college student like myself so it's easy to relate to her. She has a ton of videos that cover a wide range of topics, from Goth makeup to Goth music to playing the pan flute.

4. BrokenAspirations

She's beautiful, sweet, and has gorgeous hair.

5. Lindsey Stirling

Her music is fantastic and she can do things with a violin that no one has ever really attempted before. She's broken through all the molds of what a violin player should be and transcended to something higher and more wonderful. Honestly, she makes me want to realize my childhood dream of playing the violin. <3

6. Meaphe

This is a young woman teaching as an ALT in Sano, Japan. Her story is very inspiring and she puts up a new video almost every day. If you go back to the very beginning and watch them all (which I did) and the see where she is now, it's very impressive. She really inspires me to hang in there and go after my dream. If she can be happy in Japan, so can I one day.

Daily Style

It's been a while since I've really bothered to dress up at all and if you've read any of my previous posts, you may hazard a guess as to why. Today was much of an improvement, however!, I did don an interesting pair of glasses to spice things up a bit.

They're red. Yes, they're red glasses. I sneaked them out of a Halloween costume display earlier this year and this is the first time I've actually worn them out and about. It's a little difficult to get used to seeing everything in red, but it's not too shabby to see the world through rose colored glasses.

I really like this top. It's something I picked up at Walmart a week or two ago when I had no clothes at my boyfriend's and needed something to relax in. I like the sleeves - tight around the wrists and gradually loosening before devolving into some bat-wing sort of creation. It's comfy, so I'm not going to complain.

With that I wore a simple pair of black sweats and my biker boots. I had an early morning class today and it's FREAKING COLD OUTSIDE, so comfort was the name of the game today.

Sailing Past The Holidays

In my haste to return home from the dastardly American holiday commonly known as Thanksgiving, I left my camera behind. Not that I took many photos to begin with, of course. Just a few outfit shots here and there. Even though I brought all of my Lolita clothing back to my mom's place, I only wore it one day.

That's pathetic.

I did however, begin working on a new dress with some very flowery and decidedly summery fabric. It's a dusty pink color with a white and dark pink rose print. I'm making a shirred back dress - not necessarily Lolita, the aesthetic may actually end up being more Dolly Kei. And I'm happy with that.

I had three Thanksgiving dinners. Yes, three. One on Thursday with my immediate family (Mom, Joey, I and of course Chris), then one later that night with HIS family. And on Saturday my aunt held a dinner since during the actual holiday she was with her husband's family. So that's three large turkey based dinners.

I don't like turkey. I don't like the taste. I don't like the fact that there's a chemical in it that puts one to sleep. I'm not a fan of heaping piles of stuffing and mashed potatoes. I don't like my vegetables ruined with high-fat sauces. Overall, I'm not a Thanksgiving fan.

My diet took one look at all that food and positively CRINGED.

I used to enjoy all that stuff, possibly back when things were less stressful and I got along with everybody. Now these events are rife with the tension of ill-kept secrets and past betrayals. It's a flavor that will never leave our mouths, I think.

I also got up to 130 lbs on the scale over the weekend too. I haven't been that high in quite a while. I kind of wanted to cry. Or break things. I'm trying to LOSE weight and there I go gaining it over the weekend and such.

I'm gonna have to take extra care to de-stress the next few weeks, too. I have three weeks of class left before final exams and I still have one ten-page paper to write (if the book I'm doing the paper on EVER arrives) plus I have to track down another book at the library that we're reading for English class this week. I need to do ALL of my Global Studies work yet, and get my presentation for Japanese class sorted out.

Guh! Yes, I need to relax. Frequent baths are in order, as well as fancy homemade coffees, listening to soothing music, eating well, and lots of cardio to keep the stress weight off.

Wish me luck, I'm gonna be very busy until the Solstice, probably. >_< Ugh!

So, about that weekend thing....

You know, the past few weekends have been somewhat less than pleasant for me. I had really hoped that this one was going to look up. And it did, in certain ways.

I received the Moitie dress that the boy bought for me:

Of course, I have breasts and I guess Mana despises truly female forms, so I have a difficult time fitting this garment. I'm going to have to lose weight or bind my breasts probably.

The freebies were nice though:

Baby socks and a lovely choker necklace. Everything was sealed up neatly inside a brand shopping bag too. Major kudos to the seller, she clearly understands the necessity of presentation!

So even though the dress didn't fit well, I still managed to dress up and have a productive day. In fact, I made a new skirt out of a strange fabric I've had lying around in my room for a while.

Time Flies

Anniversaries are a funny thing. Especially when you're a middle school girl and a disgusting poltergeist. <3

My favorite episode so far. Most of them are on Youtube, so if you're bored one night give it a go. Full of cheesy puns, but most of them are pretty clever.

I actually downloaded the opening tune for my ringtone. <3

Ugh, kill me....

What about you guys? Ten ways to feel better?

1. Grow mold and manufacture your own penicillin.
2. Drink copious amount of tea.
3. Invest in lots of canned soup, low sodium variety.
4. Sleep. Lots of sleep. Forget you and your symptoms exist!
5. Make everyone else sick.....

Carry on, brethren. For now I shall die and be no more....

Argh Blargh Rawr Dammit!

I hate arguing about abortion with people. Not because I can't understand their side of things (I can!) and not because they don't try to see my point of view (they do!) but because people get WAY TOO HUNG UP on biological untruths.

Like just today, in a cult I recently joined on VampireFreaks, I was told that no matter the woman or the condition of her body/pregnancy, ALL BABIES have a heartbeat at 5 weeks, tops.

I'm really wondering where this person is getting her facts, simply because they're wrong. Heck, my abortion at 5 1/2 weeks yielded an ultrasound that depicted my embryo as no larger than a dime. Truth.

But all babies have heartbeats at 5 weeks, when most haven't even developed beyond an organized clump of cells. Not Fact.

To say that every single pregnancy is going to develop at exactly the same pace and in the same fashion is just a moronic fallacy. There's no other way around that. Every woman's body is different, depending on her DNA, her biological structure, her current health thus every pregnancy will be different, yes? It seems fairly logical to me.

See, I'm guessing this idiot arguing so vehemently is likely not even out of high school. She probably has no active experience with pregnancy and I'm sure, from the sound of it, her school's abstinence only sex-ed course is likely feeding them lies.

I fuckin' hate this place.

Hey, baby!

You know what I love about the cold months of Autumn and Winter? Bundling up and packing away any and all physical "assets". This is the only time out of the year when I am not cat-called on a regular basis. Finally, I can slip into a cozy pea coat, tug on some warm sweat pants (without feeling too hick) and kick on my boots. Once I go out in an ensemble like this, I'm invisible.

I've talked to other girls who experience the same thing. Guys are much less likely to screech at a woman across the street if she's all bundled up in a poofy coat and a scarf. I wore my new winter coat this week and despite it being of a feminine cute and featuring a ruffled hem, not a word was cast my direction. It was blissful.

Makes me long for prolonged coldness and a permanent departure from the unbearable summer months of short shorts and exposed cleavage. Ugh.

Nihongo ni Youkoso!

So, in my JP 101 class, we've mastered hiragana, katakana, and now up to 30 different kanji. Most of which I can read with a fair amount of ease. Writing them is a bit trickier of course, because you must deal with stroke order and when you have to make several very tiny strokes....well...

But still, I am enjoying my learning experience immensely. I also have an oral exam in JP tonight, which I will be reviewing shortly. All you have to do is recite a small piece of dialogue for the professor. So it mostly comes down to memorization. In the bag....yup.

I also have a poem analysis essay due tomorrow, which I'll likely work on tonight. The poem I chose for this essay is The Reaper and the Flowers by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Very few poems I actually find interesting, but this was one of them. If you haven't read it yet, I suggest you check it out. Azam Ali has a lovely musical version of this on Youtube, that I also recommend.

So like I said, that's due tomorrow. Anyone interested in reading such an analysis?

I have chapter two of my Beetlejuice fanfiction up online now too. If any of you are interested in reading or following along, here's the link:

Also, I allow anonymous reviews, so please off your criticism or praise, respectively. I think I need some motivation to keep me going. I don't write much anymore, so I've really been stretching my literary legs here.

Every Day is Halloween

Ello, peeps!

My previous post was a little.....disturbing. I was in a rather upset frame of mind and I have thus settled. So, how abouts we get to describing my somewhat fun but also painful weekend? Saturday, Mom hosted her own little Halloween themed party for just us. She made cutesy little pumpkin and mummy shaped foods and there was much to snack on. I also drank several shots of UV Cake - which is delicious and really does taste like cake, but I will never touch again. Ever.

I had my first real hangover on Sunday and I thought I was going to die. Head hurt, body hurt, stomach was incredibly upset most of the day. I just wanted to curl into a ball and die. It just sucks because I was unable to really enjoy Sunday's festivities.

But Chris spent Sunday night up in St. Cloud with me so that made it bearable. We watched The Crow and then on Monday we bummed around the mall and he bought me lovely things - as he's prone to do.

I got this awesome winter coat from Target. It's militant and Lolita all at the same time. I'm in love. <3

I got a couple of on sale items from DEB, a junior's store in the mall. I like some of their things. They had a cute variety of high-low skirts...which I've been oogling mind you. I finally got one. It's lovely. <3

Also, super badass high-low lace top as well. I wore it today with a tank underneath and a pair of green leggings. Can't forget the boots either.

I also got this fantastic pair of pants at Sears. They were on sale and size 4 fit me perfectly. Size 4. Way to make a girl feel good about herself eh? I think I might buy clothing at major department stores more often. photo because the idiot cashier (who was in the pagan group last year) forgot to remove the ink device. So I have to take it back with the receipt and have it removed. Blargh.

I've also finally acquired a thing of pepper spray. I went all out and chose the one with tear gas in it, because I'm a nutter like that. Also, if I need to drop some creep, I'm gonna do it right.

So that was that.

On a final note:

I dyed my hair again.

Monday, November 5, 2012

I just committed a recent Facebook felony. I went through my friends list, and deleted everyone I don't like, don't talk to, or have no intention of letting back into my daily life. So many problems solved in one swift motion.

I also deleted one of my blogs, as you might soon discovere. Daily Fashion is no more. I don't dress up and take photos often enough to make it worth the hassle, so it's gone.

I'm in a downright pissy mood though, so I won't type anymore for now. Updates to come later, maybe. If I fucking decide I care or not. T_T

A lonely little Samhain...

Halloween proved to be an exciting and productive night for lots of people I know, but for me it was a quiet evening spent in my room with Twizzlers, a Starbucks Double Shot energy drink, and popcorn. I watched some b-rated vampire films and read some Beetlejuice fan-fiction whilst listening to Lindsey Stirling's awesome new album.

A lovely homage to both spooky Halloween tunes and Michael Jackson's Thriller, her new video for Moon Trance was really irresistible.

I also dressed up to take a Japanese exam too:

A vintage beige dress made of lace, a sheer lingerie over-coat with some vintage jewelry. I was decked out like a Victorian era ghost/zombie. For something whipped together in about 20 minutes...not too bad if I say so.

Also, as it is now officially November, Nanowrimo has begun and I think I'm going to take up the challenge for the first time ever. Granted...I'm not doing original fiction. I'm going to write a fan-fic. For the entire month of November. And it's going to be awesome. Just saying.

I'll post a link to the story, once I get a few chapters up and you can read it for yourself and see what you think. ^_^

Any other wordsmith's around here participating?.....

Nevermore....two excellent raven makeup looks!

With Halloween swiftly approaching, there are NO shortages of really cool makeup tutorials popping up on Youtube. Some of them are downright creepy (like this one: here ) and some of them are kind of cutesy and girly (like this one: here )

But my two favorites that I've come across so far are very recent tutorials involving crows and ravens, respectively.

The first one is by makeup guru MissChievous and her look aims to emulate a crow with very feathered black eyebrows and striking facial contouring:

You know, it kind of reminds me of that Miley Cyrus music video, the one for Can't Be Tamed, in which she's dressed like a bird.

The second tutorial is from GoldieStarling and hers is a Poe inspired makeup featuring a Raven look. This involves heavy eyeshadow, some glittery dappling, feathering of eye-liner and super dark lips:

This is decidedly more Burton-esque, but in truth I actually really love them both and might give them a try for some Halloween parties I may partake in soon. Watch them and tell me what you think. Do you have any cool makeup looks you do for Halloween?

Bat Fit food post!

So I recently joined a Facebook group called BatFit, and they've posted a lot of yummy looking recipes on there. This inspired me to start creating some of my own dishes that are healthy and tasty too!

Tonight's entree:

Salmon and Veggie Stir-fry

What you need:

A small individual serving of salmon (one filet is good)
An assortment of yummy veggies of your choice (I used butternut squash, zucchini, and broccoli)
 Spaghetti noodles
 Hoisin or Teriyaki sauce

What you need to DO:

Get some water boiling in a sauce pan.
Chop up your veggies into chunks
Skin your salmon filet and also chop into bite-size pieces.
Combine veggies and salmon in a frying pan, drizzle with sauce and stir

Cook noodles separately while heating up veggie combo
Once noodles are cooked, drain and add to frying pan
Stir and heat through, making sure your veggies are at the right crunch level for you and the salmon is cooked to your preference
Dump onto plate and grab fork or chopsticks

 Now eat it, fool.

Good afternoon, snarklings. It was a glorious day filled with sleeping late, misting rain, dreary clouds, biker boots and of course, cupcakes!

That's right. My friend Katie made some Halloween cupcakes over the weekend but NO ONE in her house showed up to eat any and she didn't want them to go to waste. So I selflessly offered to help her out and I picked up a cupcake from her this afternoon.

It was delicious! I love cupcakes and since I've been eating healthy lately, it was a wonderful indulgence. I enjoyed this scrumptious tiny cake thing with a cup of tea and all was well in the world, yet again.

And....I made a video. I stopped doing it for a while since I was terribly uninspired and I felt that nobody bothered to watch them anyways. Here ya go:

Hope you're all having a fantabulous day and enjoy whatever kind of spooky weather you're having!

Darkest Before The Dawn

I slept for two hours and 30 minutes last night. Which suited me just fine. I was coming back around when my alarm went off at 7:45 am. I was SOOOO tempted to just throw the phone across the room and say "fuck life, I'm goin' back to bed!" but then I remembered the little pep talk my boy gave me last night and forced myself in to the bathroom. The morning ritual commenced and after a small breakfast (with orange juice!) I headed for class.

I got there pretty early and nearly fell asleep in the hallway waiting for the professor to come and open up the room. Once in there, the girl that usually sits next to me read me my horoscope on her phone. She does this every now and then and we're always amazed at how uncannily true their predictions are.

I don't really believe in horoscopes. Yeah, there may be some truth to our destinies lying somewhere out in the stars, but for the most part, horoscopes are a crock. And I'm okay with this.

The last one she read off for me about a week ago involved changes coming and coming up fast. That in the end they would have a positive result, even if I didn't see it. Well yeah, that was the end of midterms and the moment I decided that I needed to get my shit in gear.

Today's was.....scary in it's accuracy. Like....spooky enough to give me shivers and I don't normally react to things like that. But at the same time, it also gave me hope.

It basically summarized all the troubles I've been going through and outlining my hopelessness of the past few weeks and then going on to say that it's always darkest just before the sun comes up and even if it seems like it could get no darker now, that means the sun is just beyond the horizon and to hang in there.

It was Made me feel hopeful, I guess. Even though I don't put stock into things like that, really. But maybe there's something or someone out there trying to give me a sign, since I've been praying for help the last few days. I guess something heard me and I'm eternally grateful if they sent me that message.

Moving on to the cheery stuff:

I've started printing out inspiring and up-lifiting quotes with lovely photos to tape on my walls. I've got three up already and they make me smile when I read them. One of them is even a quote from Lord Byron. Hellz yeah!

I've been exercising a bit lately too and my torso is SO SORE from the recent ab workouts I've been doing. But it's a good kind of sore and it makes me feel productive. I've been snacking on carrots and baby spinach too and with any luck I can have the boy drag me to the grocery store tomorrow to pick up more healthy goodies. ^_^

Also....I'm totally committed to this "get fit" thing - I ordered some athletic shoes off Payless. They're a simple black athletic sneaker and they were on sale. My size was still in stock and it looks as though I could easily swap out the boring black laces for something cool like Halloween ones.

I want to start running again. I used to really enjoy the burn in my legs and belly from pushing my endurance. The racing heart, the sweat beading off my neck, the warm flush on my face. I actually used to enjoy that, because I felt like I did something good for my body.

I'm sure my endurance is absolute garbage now, so I'll have to take it slow. Now I just need a running buddy. I'm sure Steph would be up for it though.

So with good eating and good moving out of the way, I need to tackle good sleeping. I should probably invest in a non-addictive sleep aid and let all the kinks work themselves out. That seems like a good start for now.

So what do you all recommend for ooky-spooky workout clothing? Give me your tips and ideas below!
